KPK Finds Money During OTT Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found money during a hand arrest operation (OTT) that ensnared Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung. This silent operation was carried out in two places, Jakarta and Pemalang.

"We have secured some 23 people and some money and evidence," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron to reporters, Friday, August 12.

It is suspected that the money is related to bribes and illegal levies in the procurement of goods and services as well as positions. However, Ghufron did not mention how much money his men found.

The KPK now still has 1x24 hours to examine those caught in the silent operation. Later, the announcement of the suspect and the construction of the alleged bribery will be delivered at a press conference.

The public is asked to be patient and not speculate. "KPK is investigating, at a later time we will explain in more detail," he said.

Previously, Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung was caught by the OTT which was held by the KPK on Thursday, August 11. From this activity, a total of 23 people were taken to the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Regarding this activity, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, reminded that Mukti Agung OTT should be a warning. Regional heads are asked to stay away from all forms of corruption.

"I've actually reminded my friends (regional heads in Central Java Province) many times and of course I'll wait for the developments," said Ganjar in Semarang, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 11.

According to Ganjar, communication in an effort to warn regional heads in Central Java Province not to be involved in corruption has been carried out intensely, especially since the Central Java Provincial Government has long cooperated with the KPK in preventing corruption.

"I always remind him because in fact our cooperation with law enforcement, with the KPK has been too frequent," he said.

Ganjar revealed that the KPK in each of its activities in Central Java does not only carry out socialization and education in eradicating corruption, but also includes warnings or codes that regional heads must pay attention to.

The emphasis, Ganjar continued, is self-control in each individual head of the region.

"Be careful, yes, in Central Java, there are things like buying and selling positions, there are people in Central Java who are playing projects, there are people who are like this which are considered evil. Now, at that time we have to exercise self-control," he said.
