Transjakarta Wants All Buses To Be Electric Powered By 2030

JAKARTA - PT Transportation Jakarta (Transjakarta) plans to convert all buses or their fleet to electric power. So far, hundreds of Transjakarta buses operate on gas.

This was stated by the Head of the Transjakarta Corporate Secretary Division, Anang Rizkani Noor. Anang said that the transportation BUMD belonging to the DKI Provincial Government is targeting all of its buses to be powered by electricity by 2030.

“Transjakarta will gradually electrify all fleets from big buses to Microtrans. This is a form of our seriousness in achieving the electrification target of the entire fleet until 2030," said Anang in his statement, Friday, August 12.

One of these efforts is the procurement of an electric Microtrans fleet through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the DFSK electric minibus provider, PT Bevos Auto Mandiri.

Later, this electric microtrans is planned to be tested on the Tanah Abang - Kota (JAK 10) route in September 2022.

The Electric Microtrans Fleet produced by DFSK has a battery capacity of 42 kWh with a range of up to 300 KM. The battery charging process is fast, which is 2.5 hours on a single charge.

"It is hoped that this Electric Microtrans can be a vehicle that is encountered when leaving the house to take it to its destination (first miles and last miles) that is safe, comfortable and of course environmentally friendly," explained Anang.

Previously, Transjakarta also added the operation of the Transjakarta electric bus with the non-BRT Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang bus route.

The operation of the three electric buses of the Zhongtong, Skywell, and Golden Dragon brands is still in the pilot stage. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the release of the three electric buses would add to the operation of the 30 electric buses.

"For now, what is being tested is non-BRT. This means that the trial route has been determined from Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang via Tebet. Complementing the two operational routes as well as non-BRT from Blok M-Senen 16 units and Tanah Abang "Block M is 11 units operational," said Syafrin at the Transjakarta depot in Kampung Rambutan, East Jakarta, Wednesday, June 8.

In this electric bus trial, PT Transjakarta will monitor the operations of three brand holder agents (APM) for three months. After the test results meet the standards, a large number of electric buses will be procured through an auction process.
