Luxury Lifestyle And Spouse's Demands Can Be Triggers Of Corruption Behavior

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the habit of living in luxury and the many demands from spouses can lead to corrupt behavior. Based on data from 2004-2021, there were 124 corruptors who involved families ranging from wives or husbands to children.

"Habits of a luxurious or hedonistic lifestyle, the many demands and encouragement of spouses towards office, take advantage of the spouse's position or aji mumpung, so that they commit acts of corruption," said Director of Community Participation Development of the KPK Kumbul Kusdwijanto Sudjadi in a written statement, Friday, August 12.

This is the reason why the KPK continues to carry out prevention to the smallest scope in society, namely the family. This is because this group is usually the impetus for a state administrator to practice rasuah.

Moreover, since 2004-2021 from 1,266 modes of corruption handled and 1,360 people named as suspects, it turns out that there are hundreds involving their families.

"A total of 124 of them involve their families as perpetrators of corruption, such as wives, children and other close relatives," said Kumbul.

"This must be taken steps and efforts to solve it so that it does not happen again and does not continue to happen. One of them is through the Family Integrity program," he continued.

The anti-corruption commission invites every family to implement the value of integrity. The family environment, continued Kumbul, should be filled with mutual respect, mutual love and respect, and reminding each other not to commit corruption.

"KPK encourages every family to implement the values of integrity in their family environment. Where husband and wife are expected to be able to build harmonious relationships, support each other, motivate, and remind each other so that they do not violate existing rules," he concluded.
