JAKARTA - Labor Party President Said Iqbal said the Labor Party is targeting to be able to exceed the parliamentary threshold (PT) requirements in the upcoming 2024 election.

"The Labor Party does not have grandiose targets, the parliamentary threshold has passed, we will pursue the four percent national legal vote of the parliamentary threshold," Said said at a press conference held online, monitored in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, August 11.

The gain of four percent to be able to sit in Senayan, said Said, can be fulfilled by the Labor Party because it has five vote bases in five provinces which are industrial cities and the agricultural sector, namely West Java, Banten, DKI Jakarta, East Java, and Riau Islands.

Said detailed that in West Java, which according to him is the largest industrial area in Indonesia and even Southeast Asia, the Labor Party will target to get three million votes.

Meanwhile, in Banten, with Tangerang city being the center of industry, the Labor Party is targeting to get one million votes in the upcoming 2024 election.

Furthermore, in East Java, Said said that the Labor Party is targeting to get one million votes and the Riau Islands 750 thousand votes.

As for DKI Jakarta, Said continued, the Labor Party is targeting to win 750 thousand votes, in addition to targeting to become the third winning political party in the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

"Our target for DKI is two seats in the DPR RI and DPRD number three," said Said.

"In total, nearly 6.5 million valid votes are required to pass the 5.6 million parliamentary threshold. We are optimistic that with Allah's permission, God Almighty, 6.5 million national valid votes will be obtained in five provinces, the rest of course there will be additions," he added.

He said that with these votes, the Labor Party is targeting to occupy 20-25 seats in the DPR RI, and an average of 5 percent of the total number of seats in the Provincial DPR or Regency/City DPRD.

In addition to the 2024 election, Said said the Labor Party is also targeting to win the nominations of five regents or mayors in the upcoming 2024 Pilkada.

“One, Bekasi City; two, Bekasi Regency; three, Jayapura City; four, Karawang; five, Batam; we will take it,” said Said.

Said said the Labor Party would register itself as a participant in the 2024 General Election to the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Friday (12/8) by conducting a long march for the working class carnival from the Proclamation Monument.
