'Sesame Operation' National Police Chief Appoints Ferdy Sambo As A Suspect In The Shooting Of Brigadier J Appreciated By Mahfud MD

JAKARTA - Inspector General Ferdy Sambo has been named a suspect in the shooting case of Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. This step was appreciated by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD, who made an analogy that his cesarean operation was successful.

Through a press conference, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced Ferdy Sambo as a suspect in the shooting of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. He was named along with another person, namely KM.

Not long after, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD held a press conference. In his statement, he appreciated the steps taken by the Police.

Mahfud made an analogy with the shooting case of Brigadier J as a pregnant woman whose delivery operation was difficult and required a cesarean section. This step was successfully carried out by Listyo when he announced Sambo as a suspect.

"This case is a bit special, like the case of people dealing with pregnant people who want to give birth but have difficulty giving birth. So a cesarean section was carried out. (After, red) the contractions continued, tonight the National Police Chief succeeded in removing the baby in a criminal case, namely Ferdy Sambo," said Mahfud in his press conference which was broadcast on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Wednesday, August 9.

Ferdy Sambo, said Mahfud, is a suspect for allegedly ordering a premeditated murder. This also proves that the case that resulted in Brigadier J's death was not due to shooting but because he was shot.

In fact, apart from being exposed to the premeditated murder article, Mahfud said this case is very likely to continue. A number of articles, including obstructing the law enforcement process, can be imposed on the perpetrators.

"But the main thing is that the baby, the alleged main perpetrator has been found, has been made a suspect. Sambo. Ferdy Sambo," he said.

Mahfud appreciated the steps taken by the National Police, especially Listyo Sigit, who had seriously investigated this case. "Proficiat for Mr. Listyo Sigit and Timsus," he said.

In the future, the government will ensure that it will continue to monitor the investigation into this shooting case. Including, if the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Mahfud hopes that this shooting case can go to court soon. So, the perpetrators can be held accountable for their actions.

"Hopefully it won't take too long and it will be brought to court with serious charges and prosecutions. We will all supervise the prosecutor's office now and encourage them to have the same spirit as the Police," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

"The prosecutor must be really professional in handling this case with a strong legal construction so that it is easy for the court and the public to understand this case as an effort to enforce law and justice," continued Mahfud.

Previously, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was named a suspect in the murder case of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. The new suspect in this case was announced directly by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"Timsus has named brother FS as a suspect," said Sigit at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 9.

Sigit revealed the role of Ferdy Sambo in the shooting case against Brigadier J at his halfway house on July 8. The former Head of the National Police Propam Division allegedly ordered Bharada Richard Eliezer (Bharada E) to kill Brigadier J.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo is also suspected of devising a scenario as if Brigadier J was killed in a shootout. However, regarding the motive for the murder, the National Police Chief said his party was still investigating.

Besides Ferdy Sambo, the National Police Chief has also named another new suspect with the initials KM. However, Listyo has not explained about KM.

With the stipulation of Ferdy Sambo and KM, four suspects have been named in the case of Brigadier J's murder. They are Bharada Eliezer (E), Brigadier Ricky Rizal (RR), Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, and KM.

All suspects were charged with Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code. All four face the maximum penalty, namely the death penalty.
