JAKARTA - The DPP of the Beringin Karya (Berkarya) Party has yet to register itself as a participant in the 2024 General Election to the General Elections Commission (KPU).

The Secretary General of the DPP Berkarya Party, Badaruddin Andi Picunang, said that his party could not register with the KPU because there was still internal chaos following the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia (March 2022) that won Muchdi Purwoprandjono's camp as a result of the 2020 National Conference.

The journey of the Berkarya Party's management itself started from Ketum Major General TNI (Ret.) Syamsu Djalal - Secretary General Badaruddin Andi Picunang (2016), then Ketum Neneng A. Tuty - Secretary General Badaruddin Andi Picunang (2016-2018).

Then, General Chairman Hutomo Mandala Putra (Tommy Suharto) - Secretary General Priyo Budi Santoso (2018-2020), then Major General TNI Purn Muchdi Purwopranjono - Secretary General Badaruddin Picunang (2020-2025).

The Berkarya Party again held the Munaslub in May 2022, but it was deadlocked and ended in chaos due to the shifting of AD/ART changes leading to authoritarianism/feudalism management which obstructed the democratic process in conveying ideas and ideas.

However, he continued, the Decree of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights regarding amendments to the AD/ART and the central management had been issued as of August 1, 2022, based on an agreement between the previously conflicting camps.

However, internal conflicts re-emerged during the registration period for the 2024 General Election participants.

"Feeling that something was not in accordance with the decision, some of the management personnel in the new decree held a meeting as of August 1, 2022 (the same day the decree was issued) dismissing the Secretary General (Secretary General) and several administrators who were pro-improvement. Including replacing and replacing the leadership of the Provincial DPW which is not in line with the policy," said Picunang in a written statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, August 9.

The issued correspondence, including the administration of registration to the KPU, does not involve the secretary general anymore. Therefore, Picunang as Secretary General sent a letter of objection to the KPU with copies of the relevant parties.

He said the Berkarya Party's AD/ART stated that the General Chair and Secretary General were elected and dismissed at the highest decision-making forum called the National Deliberation (Munas) or Extraordinary Munas (Munaslub).

"So the change of secretary general without going through the National Conference/Munaslub is not valid," he said.

PKPU No. 4 of 2022 concerning verification also regulates correspondence and verification of party leaders represented by the General Chair and Secretary General or other valid designations based on the latest Kemenkumham Decree.

"Based on these internal dynamics, the registration of parties as candidates for the 2024 General Election is experiencing obstacles due to the mutual change of administrators at the center and at the critical times from the registration deadline of August 14, 2022," said Picunang.
