DKI BBPOM Secures Illegal Cosmetics Worth IDR900 Million During July 2022 In Jakarta

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) secured illegal cosmetics worth Rp. 900 from controlling cosmetic products that are not licensed or contain hazardous materials in Jakarta during July-August 2022. and Satpol PP in five regions and is a collaborative effort to protect public health from the circulation of cosmetic products without a distribution permit and containing hazardous materials," said Head of DKI Jakarta POM Center Susan Gracia Arpan in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 9.

Gracia explained that the cosmetic findings were an effort to control the distribution facilities and cosmetic sales centers, with 33 facilities or 49 percent meeting the requirements while 35 facilities or 51 percent did not meet the provisions of the 68 locations inspected.

From these locations, there were 883 cosmetic products found with a total of 7,150 consisting of 6,992 without a distribution permit, 11 cosmetics containing hazardous ingredients and 147 expired cosmetics with a total value of Rp901,342,000.

"Follow up to the findings of the supervision results in the form of administrative sanctions including warnings, stern warnings to the facilities, as well as securing products that do not meet the requirements for further processing," he said.

Gracia explained that her party always oversees the quality and safety of cosmetics in protecting public health, with the hope that business actors will comply with the laws and regulations in running their business.

"People are encouraged to be smart consumers in choosing safe food by always doing CEK CLICK," said Gracia.

Gracia added that the DKI Jakarta BBPOM consistently supervises and follows up on the results of the supervision by doing:

1. Facilitating cosmetic MSME actors to apply good cosmetic production methods; 2. Guidance on the means of distribution of cosmetic products in the cosmetic notification process; 3. Active coordination with relevant cross-sectors regarding the integrated supervision and development of cosmetic production and distribution facilities; 4. Communication, Information and Education (IEC) to the public;5. Kerling Jakarta (Certification Activities and Mobile Information Services Jakarta) in the form of mobile cars that will be at public service centers in the province of DKI Jakarta to provide services related to certification and information services for Drugs and Food;6. As well as the expansion of BBPOM public services in Jakarta through its presence in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Public Service Mall.
