Passengers From International Routes Enter Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Soaring, Tourists From Australia Are The Most

BADUNG - During the period from January to July 2022, PT Angkasa Pura I I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, has served 5,612,777 passengers in total. The increase in the number of passengers was driven by the increasingly busy international traffic activity, as well as the increase in international and domestic routes.

"During July, I Gusti Ngurah Airport served a total of 1,315,200 passengers, an increase of 18 percent compared to the number of passengers in June," said General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan, Friday, August 5.

For international traffic, there were 518,620 passengers recorded during the month of July, an increase of up to 42 percent compared to the previous month. There were 8,517 aircraft movements during the month of July.

"I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport recorded 796,580 domestic air travel passengers or an increase of 7 percent, compared to June. So the total number of passengers served in the January-July period was 5,612,777 people. In 2021, there will be a percentage increase of up to 220 percent, during which time we served 1,756,459 passengers," he explained.

In July 2020, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport received two additional new international routes, namely Philippine Air Asia to Manila, and Korean Air to Incheon. Then, there is one additional domestic route, namely Indonesia Air Asia to Balikpapan.

"Of course, this is also a factor for the increasing trend of international and domestic passengers," he explained.

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport serves 21 domestic routes and 21 international routes. In total, they have served flights to 12 countries served by 23 airlines.

During July, the domestic route with the highest number of passengers was Jakarta, serving 451,791 passengers. Followed by Surabaya with 115,716 passengers, and Makassar with 49,001 passengers.

Meanwhile, the international route with the highest number of passengers during July was Australia, serving 195,079 passengers. Then, Singapore by serving 128,283 passengers, and Malaysia by serving 69,388 passengers.

"Australian foreigners are also the most foreigners who enter the island of Bali with 83,363 people. Furthermore, 18,242 Indian citizens and 16,056 British citizens came to Bali during July," he explained.

Although the number of air travelers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport continues to increase. His party appealed to the entire community to continue to apply health protocols, especially if they were at the airport. Because according to him, currently there are several health issues that have become the world's attention, such as the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and monkeypox disease.

His party also continues to coordinate intensively with relevant stakeholders such as the Port Health Office (KKP), the Agricultural Quarantine Center, and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and prepare supporting facilities to prevent the transmission of these diseases.

"Such as the placement of thermo scanners at the arrival and departure gates, as well as the placement of disinfectant carpets at every entry and exit of the passenger area," he said.

"We hope that the trend of increasing the number of air travelers, both domestic and international on the island of Bali, can be maintained by all parties. We are optimistic that the target of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to serve 9 million passengers can be realized soon," said Handy.
