JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya stated that the incident of police shooting police at the Bank BNI Pecenongan security post, Gambir, Central Jakarta, was purely due to negligence. Because, the incident occurred when a US Brigadier cleaned his gun casings.

"Now the one holding this weapon is the Brigadier, he cleans the gun casings while chatting, he cleans it," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Thursday, August 4.

After the sleeve was clean, the US Brigadier put it in the gun holster that was on his waist. At that moment, the weapon exploded and hit Bripda EP.

"This weapon is sensitive to the trigger it explodes. That's why this is called negligence," he said.

However, the injuries suffered by Bripda EP were not detailed. It was only conveyed that the wound was not serious or dangerous. Regardless of the series of incidents, Zulpan said the US Brigadier was being investigated by Propam. The goal is to determine the next action steps.

"Still, this is considered the negligence of the Propam Sector in examining the person concerned," said Zulpan.
