Police Arrest Bali Network Of Methamphetamine Dealers In Sidoarjo

SIDOARJO - The Drug Investigation Unit Team of the Sidoarjo Police, East Java, arrested three perpetrators of drug dealers of the type of shabu-shabu from the Bali network.

Sidoarjo Police Chief Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro said that the disclosure of this case began with the arrest of two suspects in Sidoarjo.

"In mid-July 2022, the Narcotics Unit of the Sidoarjo Police succeeded in apprehending two shabu dealers, namely RW and STK residents of Sidoarjo City. From the two police officers obtained evidence of 637 grams of methamphetamine," he said as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 3.

From the development carried out, officers obtained information that the type of methamphetamine was obtained from a dealer in Bali.

"Then there are other methamphetamine which will be sent to a hotel in Surabaya, which will be received by other dealers, namely the US," he said.

With the information regarding the methamphetamine transaction at a Surabaya hotel, a team from the Sidoarjo Police Narcotics Unit conducted raids and arrested another dealer, namely the US and evidence of shabu weighing 2,500 grams.

The arrest of the three methamphetamine dealers, according to the Sidoarjo Police Chief, was an attempt to thwart inter-island drug trafficking via land routes.

“Bandar from Bali is still a DPO. Two of the three suspects are residents of Sidoarjo," he said.

He said the three arrested perpetrators are now behind bars at the Sidoarjo Police.

This perpetrator was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) concerning Narcotics with a threat of life imprisonment or 20 years in prison, and Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 and Article 112 on Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and a fine of IDR 8 billion.
