TULUNGAGUNG - The Satreskrim Team of the Tulungagung Police, East Java, revealed a case of child/infant dumping on the terrace of the ER at the Campurdarat Health Center. The perpetrator's biological mother has the initials TR, 27.

"We arrested the perpetrator in Trenggalek last Tuesday. Now the perpetrator TR is detained at the Tulungagung Police for further investigation," said Tulungagung Police Chief AKBP Eko Hartanto, in a written statement, Wednesday, August 3.

Based on the results of the interrogation, continued Eko, TR said that he was a widow with two children. Then in September 2021, TR met T (the biological father of the abandoned baby) who at that time worked as a construction worker at the perpetrator's grandmother's house.

From there, according to his confession, the perpetrator was forced to have sex. From his confession, the perpetrator had sexual intercourse with T only once.

"A month later, in January 2022, the perpetrator claimed to be pregnant. But this T did not want to be responsible," said Eko.

Then last May, the perpetrator knew AP, then he worked as a housemaid in Surabaya. Then on July 25, 2022, TR gave birth after being escorted by her employer to the Maternity Hospital.

"The next day, the perpetrator, who was allowed to return from the maternity hospital, asked his employer for leave to return to his home in Pacitan," he said.

According to Eko, the perpetrator who brought the baby did not return to Pacitan, but instead headed to the District of Tanggunggunung, by taking a trip and getting off in front of the Campurdarat Hospital.

In order not to know that she had just given birth, TR put the baby on a glass table in front of the ER at the Campurdarat Health Center at around 02.00 WIB.

"After that, the perpetrator was picked up by his girlfriend's nephew, riding a motorbike and spending the night at the girlfriend's brother's house," he said.

After that, the baby who was placed by the perpetrator on the front porch was found by SH, a local resident who is also a security guard for the construction project of the Campurdarat Hospital. Then the findings were reported to the Campurdarat Police.

"After some time of investigation, the officers finally managed to secure the perpetrator while on Yos Sudarso Street, Ngantru Village, Trenggalek District and Regency," he said.

"Currently the baby is still being treated at Dr. Iskak Hospital in a healthy condition. And later the plan is that the baby will be delivered to the perpetrator's family because the family is ready to take care of the baby," he added.

For his actions, TR was charged with Article 76 B in conjunction with Article 77 B of the Law on Child Protection.
