JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office is trying to repatriate Surya Darmadi, a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the control of palm oil lands that cost the state Rp78 trillion. Surya is currently known to be still in Singapore.

The AGO will actively coordinate with the Singapore Prosecutor's Office. Last Monday, August 1st, the AGO named PT Duta Palma Group owner Surya Darmadi along with former Indragiri Hulu Regent Raja Thamsir Rachman (period 1999-2008) as suspects in the case of controlling 37,095 hectares of oil palm land in Indragiri Hulu, Riau. money laundering (TPPU). According to Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, Surya made an agreement with Raja to facilitate the business activities of five companies under the Duta Palma group. The five companies, namely PT Banyu Bening Utama, PT Panca Agro Lestari, PT Seberida Subur, PT Palma Satu, and PT Kencana Amal Tani.

Before being investigated by the AGO, Surya Darmadi had also stumbled upon a case at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the alleged bribery in filing a revision of the forest function change which also dragged the name of former Riau Governor Annas Maamun. The KPK has included Surya Darmadi's name on the wanted list (DPO).
