JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin has pocketed a number of names for acting governors in three new Papua provinces. The names are suggestions from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian.

"It has not been discussed in detail, but indeed the Minister of Home Affairs has reported on who will be the leader in the new regions. Masduki conveyed this after attending a meeting on Papua led by Vice President Ma'ruf and attended by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito, and Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

According to Masduki, the vice president is more focused on infrastructure development and new regulations in the three new Papua provinces.

"Everything has been conveyed but nothing is final because everything is input and is more about how the Vice President is concerned so that the preparations in the field are really for infrastructure, and the rules so that there is no conflict in the regions, that's what the Vice President prioritizes. that," said Masduki, according to Antara.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo confirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs had prepared the acting governors for the three new provinces in Papua.

According to Wempi, his ministry has visited three provinces to prepare related matters.

It is known that on June 30, 2022, the Indonesian Parliament and the government have agreed on three laws to establish a new province in Papua.

According to the government, the division of the province in Papua is a mandate from Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua, especially Article 76 which consists of five paragraphs that the division must pay attention to political, administrative, legal, unitary, socio-cultural aspects, readiness of human resources. , basic infrastructure, and economic capacity.

The three provinces are South Papua Province, which will be named Anim Ha with the capital city Merauke, and the scope of the area is Merauke Regency, Mappi Regency, Asmat Regency, and Boven Digoel Regency.

Then Central Papua Province will be called Meepago, with the capital city of Timika and the scope of the Mimika Regency, Paniai Regency, Dogiyai Regency, Deyiai Regency, Intan Jaya Regency, and Puncak Regency.

Furthermore, Central Mountains Papua Province will be named Lapago, with the capital city of Wamena and the scope of the area of Jayawijaya Regency, Puncak Jaya Regency, Lanny Jaya Regency, Central Mamberamo Regency, Nduga Regency, Tolikara Regency, Yahukimo Regency, and Yalimo Regency.
