JIS Tribune Barrier Collapses, DKI DPRD Suspicious Jakpro Deliberately Wants To Renovate Every Year

JAKARTA - Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Ichwanul Muslimin, suspects that the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is deliberately building the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) with substandard quality.

Seeing the collapse of the JIS tribune barrier some time ago, Ichwanul accused Jakpro of deliberately constructing buildings that require annual renovation from the APBD.

This happened during a working meeting of the DKI DPRD Commission B with Jakpro and the Regional Owned Enterprise Development Agency (BP BUMD).

"With a building like this, I actually see that it was intentional, the incident will repeat itself, with the reason that it is renovated every year. Because it is renovated every year, submitting another budget, it is a waste of state money, people's money," said Ichwanul at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Tuesday, August 2nd.

Ichwanul said he was embarrassed to see the incident. This is because the damage to the guardrail occurred when the international-class stadium was just inaugurated.

"You guys kindly ask for a budget to build and make excuses for the pride of the citizens of Jakarta, but I have nothing to be proud of. Frankly, it's embarrassing. Just what year GBK was, it just collapsed in 2019. This, (the guardrail) of the JIS stadium ( collapsed) which is only a few months," he said.

Meanwhile, a member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD from the PKB-PPP faction, Hasbiallah Ilyas, questioned the planning to use the Rp 4.5 trillion stadium construction budget.

According to him, from the collapse of the JIS guardrail, this stadium does not deserve to be called an international standard stadium. "After this incident, I don't think JIS is at the European level, but the tarkam, at the village level," said Hasbi.

In addition, a member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDIP faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, urged Jakpro to conduct a JIS construction audit to the contractor, namely PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung Tbk.

"Fix it, audit the building drawings, then ask the contractor carefully. Then why was the architecture made that way. I'm worried that in the future there will be many problems that will be found. I really hope JIS will carry out an audit. But, it's still the contractor's responsibility," firmly Gilbert.

Jakpro VP Corporate Secretary, Nadia Diposanjoyo explained, this incident occurred ahead of Persija's friendly match against Chonburi FC. At that time, the enthusiasm of the audience was increasing because the time for the match was getting closer.

Almost all of the Tier 1 stands are filled, even exceeding the available seating capacity. Based on CCTV camera monitoring, it was revealed that a number of spectators climbed the horizontal barrier to sit down and put up banners.

In fact, the strength of the structure and the designation of the boundaries of the stands was not designed as a place to stand, climb, occupy, or access the field or move the stands.

"Due to the activity of the spectators who are based on the horizontal barrier, as a result, there is an additional tensile load on the practical column anchors which are the support for the horizontal barrier to be lifted. This causes the horizontal barrier along with the spectator guardrail on the north side to collapse," said Nadia, some time ago.
