JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) renovated a child-friendly house for brothers, Ilmiatun Sholihah (11) and Khairul Anwar (7), in the North Reban Tebu neighborhood, Sandubaya Village, Selong District, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Child-friendly housing renovation assistance worth Rp. 25 million was given by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini to the child of a married couple, Saipudin Zuhri and Nanik Patmawati, in Selong, East Lombok.
"We want these children to get their rights, the right to protection and development, in the family," said Social Minister Risma in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 1.
This concept, said the Minister of Social Affairs, started from his desire to provide a separate space that is safe and comfortable for children, especially teenagers. The average child lives in one room.
According to him, children should also be given the opportunity to live in a house that is suitable for habitation and meets the requirements for health and safety.
"Then, we thought, how to separate the room space for teenage girls and teenage boys, including between teenagers and adults. So, that's the concept that we built," he explained.
Through this assistance, Social Minister Risma hopes for sympathy and concern for the surrounding community. Because this cannot be done only by the government, the Ministry of Social Affairs needs the involvement of all parties to jointly protect the future of this nation.
Sholihah, who is currently in the 5th grade of elementary school, revealed that now she can study and sleep comfortably in her new room.
“It's great to get a new room. Now, I can sleep and study comfortably in this room," he said with sparkling eyes.
No less happy than Sholihah, her sister, Khairul, is also still filled with joy after finding her house equipped with a special room for herself with a new mattress.
Before having a new room and mattress, Khairul rarely washed his feet before going to bed. But now, he admits that he never forgets to wash his feet and clean himself before going to bed.
"Now, I already have my own room. I've been diligent in washing my feet before entering the room to sleep," he said with an enthusiastic tone.
Previously, their house only had one bedroom, which required Sholihah and Khairul to sleep side by side in the same room. The condition of the roof of the room that was starting to wear out, also made the room leak every time it rained.
This Child Friendly Home Assistance in Selong is part of a series of activities to celebrate National Children's Day (HAN) 2022 in East Lombok. This assistance targets families with a component of teenagers.
Escorted by the "Paramita" Center in Mataram belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the renovation of Child Friendly Homes is complemented by Social Rehabilitation Assistance Assistance (ATENSI) for Adequate Home Facilities and Infrastructure, Entrepreneurship Capital and School Supplies for Sholihah worth Rp22.5 million.
In addition, the house has also been facilitated to install and access PDAM and electricity worth Rp. 15.5 million, so that the total assistance for Child Friendly Homes, along with all its infrastructure for children in Selong, East Lombok, is around Rp. 63 million.
