The Aceh Police Have Received Refunds Of Rp934.7 Million Scholarship Corruption Money

ACEH - Investigators of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Police received a refund of state money from the alleged corruption case of scholarships amounting to Rp.934.7 million.

Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police Kombes Winardy said the scholarship money was returned by 70 recipients who did not meet the requirements.

"The money was returned through the post established by investigators. So far, there have been 70 scholarship recipients who have returned the money they received. Those who return it are those who do not qualify as scholarship recipients," he said in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, August 1.

Winardy said that there were 320 other recipients who were waiting for their good faith to return the scholarships they received because they did not meet the requirements as recipients. Investigators immediately announce the names of scholarship recipients who do not meet these requirements to the public if they do not have good faith.

Moreover, he said, hundreds of scholarship recipients who did not meet the requirements were absent after being called repeatedly for questioning.

"They were twice called for questioning, but they failed to do so. The scholarship money is a state loss that must be returned because they do not meet the requirements as recipients," he said.

Previously, Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Police investigated the alleged corruption of the Aceh Government Scholarship for the 2017 Fiscal Year worth Rp22.3 billion.

The scholarship budget is placed in the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Aceh Province. The scholarships were distributed to 803 recipients.

Based on the results of the investigation, there are 400 students who have the potential to be suspects because they received scholarships, but did not meet the requirements as recipients.

In this case, investigators from the Aceh Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate examined 537 people and six expert witnesses, and named seven suspects.

The seven suspects, with the initials SYR as Budget User (PA), FZ and RSL as Budget User Authority (KPA), FY as Technical Implementation Officer (PPTK), and SM, RDJ, and RK as Scholarship Field Coordinator.
