PALEMBANG - The Land Mafia Team of the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) arrested two perpetrators in the alleged case of making Certificate of Ownership (SHM) documents for fake land ownership in Banyuasin Regency.

Head of Sub-Directorate III for Crime and Violence at the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation at the South Sumatra Police, Kompol Agus Prihadinika, said the two perpetrators were the man with the initials EK (53) a resident of Rimba Jaya, Air Kumbang, Banyuasin and YS (34) a resident of Siring Agung, Ilir Barat I, Palembang.

The perpetrators suspected of making fake land ownership certificates in Banyuasin Regency were arrested by the Land Mafia Timsus at their respective homes and hiding places on Friday (29/7) night.

"Yes, that Friday night EK was arrested at his home and YS at a hotel in Palembang," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 1.

Kompol Agus said the YS perpetrator acted as the editor of the PTSL program SHM document (free land certification program from the government) as well as claimed to be an employee of the Banyuasin land office (BPN) and the perpetrator Efendi was a former local village head.

However, according to him, the case is still under development with the South Sumatra Police's Sub-Directorate of Assets and Objects (Harda) personnel who are also members of the Land Mafia Timsus.

"The perpetrators and several witnesses are still being examined, we will announce the results later," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Land Mafia Team, Kompol Haris Dinzah, said that the perpetrator YS, who claimed to be an employee of the Banyuasin BPN Office, offered the victim one SHM worth IDR 4.5 million.

"The reason is the fast lane or VIP until the SHM is finished, then it is handed over to the victim," he said.

However, he continued, the suspicious victim after checking the truth of the SHM went to the Banyuasin BPN Office because the year on the certificate was supposed to be 2022 but it says 2020.

"When checked by BPN Banyuasin employees, the certificate is not a product of the Banyuasin BPN office or fake," he said, the dozens of residents who had been deceived then coordinated with BPN Banyuasin and then made an official report to the South Sumatra Police.

During the arrest of the perpetrators, the police confiscated several pieces of evidence including 19 pieces of SHM ownership of fake land, 16 bundles of SPH (letters of recognition of rights), two Lenovo brand laptops, flash disks containing fake SHM and SPH documents and a number of printing equipment.

In this case, the perpetrators are suspected of violating Articles 263, 264 and 266 of the Criminal Code related to falsification of land certificates with a penalty of 7 years in prison.
