The Palace Holds A Series Of Independence Commemoration Events Throughout August: Starting From National Remembrance, Exhibitions To Shopping Discounts

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensesneg) Setya Utama explained a series of activities to commemorate the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia throughout August 2022.

"So we have prepared an agenda for the month of independence which we will carry out at the palace and also in the Ministry of State Secretariat, some of which can be followed by the wider community, some internally. On the first day as usual we held a press conference to explain the activities in The month of independence was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Organizer, Pak Casspres," said Setya Utama at a press conference at the Ministry of State Secretariat's office in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, August 1.

The press conference was attended by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretary Setya Utama and Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin.

"Tonight (August 1), a National Remembrance will be held at the Merdeka Palace, followed by interfaith leaders at the Merdeka Palace," said Setya Utama.

Furthermore, on August 13-22 2022, an exhibition of presidential archives and cars will be held at Sarinah Thamrin in collaboration with PT Sarinah.

"Now, in this presidential archive, we will show many new things. The theme is 'Indonesia Answers', so we will display archives in the form of photo documentation, videos, and also documents that maybe the public has never seen it and We will emphasize more on how the seven presidents have responded to the crises and challenges of their respective times," added Setya.

The cars that had been used by President Soekarno until President Jokowi were exhibited and the public could take pictures in front of the car for free at Sarinah's "rooftop".

Furthermore, on August 10, 2022 there will be a commemoration of the National Technology Awakening Day.

"Then the ceremony to commemorate the 61st Scout Day at the State Palace on August 11, followed by the next day on August 12, there was a ceremony for the awarding of the honor of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace," said Setya.

Then on August 15, 2022 there will be an inauguration of the heritage flag-raising troops or Paskibraka at the State Palace.

"Furthermore, there is something interesting, especially for mothers and all the people, there is an Indonesian discount shopping day starting on August 15," added Setya.

On August 16, 2022, a state speech and speech on the 2023 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Bill (RUU APBN) will be delivered at the MPR Building, DPR and DPD RI.

Meanwhile, on the evening of August 16, there will be an honorary ceremony and holy meditation at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.

"Of course, the main event on August 17 has been conveyed by the chairman of the organizer, Mr. Kasetpres," said Setya.

The palace will hold two ceremonies, namely the ceremony of raising the red and white flag, which will begin on August 17, 2022 at 09.45 WIB by inviting around 1000-2000 residents to witness live at the Merdeka Palace and in the afternoon starting at around 15.00 WIB, the series of lowering the red and white flag will begin with about 3000 people who can follow directly.

On August 18, 2022, there will be a commemoration of Constitution Day at the MPR/DPR RI Building.

"In closing, at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a festival will be held and this will also be combined with the commemoration of independence and also we welcome the G20 guests later with the 'Festival of Rhapsody of Archipelago' at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah while 'soft launching' from TMII which is currently underway. I hope it will be built by the end of August," said Setya.

The palace chose the theme "Recovering Faster, Rising Stronger" in a series of commemorating the 77th Indonesian Independence Day in August 2022.
