Although Perindo Failed In The 2019 Election, Conglomerate Hary Tanoesoedibjo Immediately Sets A High Target Of 60 Parliamentary Seats In 2024

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Perindo Party, Hary Tanoe, targets his party to gain a minimum of 60 seats in the Indonesian House of Representatives in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

This party previously failed to qualify for the 2019 general election because it received votes below the parliamentary threshold, which is 2.67 percent.

Hary Tanoe conveyed this target amount after registering as a candidate for the 2024 General Election at the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) office.

"So Perindo's target in 2024 is to get a minimum of 60 seats in the DPR. So it's double digits, no longer single digits, above 10 percent," said Hary, Monday, August 1.

During the registration process today, Hary said that his party was accepted by KPU leaders and witnessed by the leadership of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). After delivering his remarks, Hary handed over the registration documents symbolically.

"So it's very fast, not long-winded because it used to be different, using physical, yes, the data is the document. If this is not like that anymore," said Hary.

On that occasion, Hary mentioned the party coalition leading to the 2024 presidential election. According to him, currently Perindo has not yet thought about the direction of its party coalition in supporting the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"When it comes to coalitions, it's too early to talk. Now let's go through this (registration of political parties) first. Non-parliamentary coalitions are different again. In the context of linking candidacy, everything is still in process," he explained.

For information, the registration stages of political parties participating in the general election are open from today, August 1, 2022 to August 14, 2022.

The registration period for political parties lasts for 14 days and every day will start at 08.00 WIB until 16.00 WIB. Especially on the last day, registration will close at 24.00 WIB.

After the registration of candidates for election participants, the next stage is administrative verification on August 2, 2022 to September 11, 2022.
