INDRAMAYU - The Indramayu Police Criminal Investigation Unit, West Java Regional Police confirmed that the body found in an irrigation canal wrapped in duct tape was a murder victim after an autopsy was performed.

"The results of the physical examination or autopsy found signs of violence," said Kasatreskrim Indramayu Police AKP Fitran Romajimah when contacted via text message in Indramayu, Antara, Sunday, July 31.

He said the discovery of signs of violence indicated that the body wrapped in duct tape found in the irrigation of Pekandangan Village was a murder victim.

According to him, apart from the signs of violence, the victim's valuables were also not found, so there is a strong suspicion that the body was a victim of violent theft.

"The body is suspected of being the victim of a criminal act of theft, violence, which resulted in death and/or murder," he said.

He admitted that he had examined a number of witnesses related to the case of the discovery of the body suspected of being the victim of the murder, both witnesses at the scene of the crime, and the victim's family.

"We have examined several witnesses, including the victim's family," he said.

On Monday (25/7), residents of Pekandangan Village, Indramayu District/Regency were shocked by the discovery of a corpse wrapped in duct tape on the face, hands and feet.

The body has now been identified, namely the victim with the initials W (54), a resident of North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. Currently, the victim has been buried in his hometown in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java.
