KPU Reminds The Completeness Of Political Party Documents Before Registering As Candidates For The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) reminds political parties (parpol) to complete administrative documents before registering at the registration stage of political parties as candidates for the 2024 General Election on August 1-14, 2022.

"The Election Law 7/2017 states that there are two things called registration activities for political parties, firstly the submission or submission of registration letters signed by the general chairman or secretary general of each political party. Second, submitting complete documents for political parties," said the KPU chairman. Hasyim Asy'ari was reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 29.

The criteria used by the KPU to accept the registration of political parties, he said, were only one, namely complete or incomplete.

"So for political parties who are present at the KPU submitting the conditions, which are checked whether the documents are complete or incomplete, based on that the KPU will make an official report, there are two possibilities," said Hasyim.

The first possibility is the official report which states that the required documents for the political party are complete and can be registered.

Then he said the second possibility was during the registration process during the registration period until the last second of the stage, August 14, 2022 at 23.59 WIB.

If it is not complete, the KPU will provide an official report stating the document is incomplete and declared unable to be registered.

"As a consequence, political parties whose documents are incomplete during the registration period and cannot be registered (until 23:59 WIB) cannot continue for the next stage of activities, namely administrative verification," he said.

The KPU has announced that the stages of registering political parties will begin on Monday 1 August 2022. The political party registration activities will be held from 1-14 August 2022, followed by administrative verification.

"And in the end, the determination will be made on December 14, 2022. As mandated by the Law, the registration of political parties must be carried out no later than 18 months before voting day, and 14 months before voting for activities to determine the political parties participating in the election," he said.
