TNI AD Personnel Shot Killed During Riots In Yahukimo, Papuan Police Form A Hunting Team For Perpetrators

JAYAPURA - The Head of the Propam Division of the Papua Police, Police Commissioner Gustav Urbinas, admitted that he had sent a team to investigate the shooting incident of a TNI AD member in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua, when dozens of people came to the Dekai Police Station, Wednesday 27 July evening. The team from the Propam Polda Papua has left for Dekai to investigate a case that caused one TNI AD soldier there to be shot in the thigh. According to reports received, the incident began when Dekai Police personnel received a report from the community regarding a dispute at a restaurant located in front of the office. Dekaiolsek Police, he said, in Jayapura, Friday.

He stated that the investigation team from the Papuan Regional Police left for Dekai, Friday, July 27, and immediately went to work.

Previously, Korem 172/PWY had also sent its team to Dekai, including the Military Police personnel of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih.

The incident began when there was a dispute at the food stall between members of the Indonesian Army and the waiter and the shop owner.

Members of the Dekai Police Sector tried to resolve the misunderstanding, but at night around 70 people came and tried to attack the Dekai Police Station by pelting and burning the wooden fence.

The incident was reported to the Yahukimo Police, so the head of the Yahukimo Police along with members came to the Dekai Police Station to handle it.

Shortly after being successfully treated, there was a report that one soldier was shot in the thigh and was in the Yahukimo Hospital in Dekai. "Hopefully the results of the investigation will be known soon so that the cause of the incident can be ascertained," said Urbinas.
