KPPPA-Kompolnas Sign MoU For Legal Protection For Victims Of Violence

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) and the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on legal protection and fulfillment of rights for women and children victims of violence.

"This MoU is very important and relevant to the issue of violence against women and children that has occurred in the community to date, especially with the ratification of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence which requires special mechanisms to handle cases," said the Minister of PPPA. Bintang Puspayoga in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 28.

Bintang hopes that the memorandum of understanding can be the basis for developing the strategic policy direction of the National Police which integrates efforts to protect and fulfill the rights of women and children in Indonesia.

The MoU was also signed by the Head of Kompolnas as well as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD.

The memorandum of understanding also aims to create a framework for cooperation in the supervision, promotion and protection of women and children as well as law enforcement.

Bintang also asked for synergy and good cooperation to continue to prioritize the interests of women and children.

"I also ask for support from the National Police so that they can also cooperate in implementing various developments that have emerged from this MoU," continued Bintang.

He also asked that the agreement not only be a document, but can be revealed in various cooperation agreements that can actually be implemented for the benefit of the community.
