Allegedly Spreading Slander On Airlangga, Former KNPI Chairman Haris Pratama Reported To Bareskrim

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) Haris Pertama was reported to the Criminal Investigation Department. The report concerns the alleged spread of false news and hate speech against Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.

"Yes, if what we report is related to fake news," said the KNPI chairman Putri Khairunnisa when confirmed, Thursday, July 28.

This report follows Haris' statement calling Airlangga an odong-odong presidential candidate and has divided the KNPI. In fact, he said he was ready to attack Airlangga.

Haris made this statement during an event in Yogyakarta on Monday, July 25. Haris is suspected of having misused the name of the KNPI during the event.

"Today, Haris is no longer the head of the KNPI but is already a former KNPI. So the use of the name KNPI is no longer appropriate to be used or attached to him," he said.

"Then it will be related to fake news where the Jokowi-Ma'ruf working cabinet government through the Coordinating Minister for the Economy divides the youth. Also related to the hate speech of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy because he said he would carry out a general attack," continued Putri.

In fact, according to Putri, Haris' statement indirectly indicated that there was an intention to attack the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government. With that in mind, decided to make a report.

"The Coordinating Minister for the Economy is also the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Working Cabinet that indirectly wants to attack the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government," said Putri.

The report was registered with the number LP/B/0414/VII/2022/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 27 July 2022. Thus, Haris Pratama is suspected of violating Article 28 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2016. 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.
