JAKARTA - Monitoring of activities at the Dukuh Atas zebra crossing and the Kendal tunnel, Central Jakarta, is increasingly being tightened. The area is not only guarded by the police and Satpol PP, cleaning officers from the Central Jakarta Environmental Service (DLH) also carry out strict supervision.

The tight supervision carried out by the Central Jakarta DLH in Dukuh Atas was due to the increasing number of visitors to Citayam Fashion Week (CFW).

Cleaning officers are still making persuasive efforts at the location to violators. Meanwhile, supervision and enforcement of visitors who violate cleanliness will be given a sanction of sweeping the road and walking around using a vest that reads the type of violation committed.

"We take action against people who litter, we carry out sweeping sanctions using vests. The one that reads 'We are violators of Perda No. 3 of 2013'," said Central Jakarta Environmental Agency (LH) Head Edy Mulyanto when confirmed by reporters, Thursday, 28 July.

According to Edy, the disciplinary punishment of using a vest with the contents written on the violation he has committed will have an effect of shame on the community.

"It encourages shame because there are many people passing by. So for now, fines have not been applied. Hopefully they can be given education," he said.

Edy further explained that the violators consisted of a number of teenagers. They are also still doing persuasion efforts.

"The more people come here, the more people do activities there (Dukuh Atas). Of course, there must be more garbage because people are getting out of control," he said.

Meanwhile, to clean up garbage in the Dukuh Atas area, the Central Jakarta Environment Agency will wait until the fashion show is finished and disband.

"The Central Jakarta LH Sub-Department places subordinates up to 3 shifts at the location. After the morning absence, they go straight to the Dukuh Atas area in the Tanah Abang and Menteng areas," he said.

Previously reported, Head of the Central Jakarta Environmental Agency (LH) Edy Mulyanto said, as the crowds of Citayem Fashion Week (CFW) visitors in Dukuh Atas were directly proportional to the increase in the volume of waste.

"On average, the garbage can reach up to 1.5 tons a day. That's from the two locations (Tanah Abang and Menteng). Because there are already a lot of people," said Head of the Central Jakarta Environment Agency Edy Mulyanto when confirmed by reporters, Thursday, July 28.
