JAKARTA - The Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) has imposed a permanent dismissal of Bengkalis Regency KPU Member, Riau Province, Anggi Ramadhan Siregar in the case of alleged violations of the election organizers' code of ethics.

"Imposing a permanent dismissal to combatant Anggi Ramadhan Siregar as a member of the Bengkalis Regency KPU as of the date this decision was read out," said Supriyanto, chairman of the Educational Council, in Jakarta Wednesday.

The sanction for permanent dismissal of Case Number 23-PKE-DKPP/VI/2022 was read out in the hearing for the verdict on the alleged violation of KEPP in the Main Meeting Room of DKPP, Jakarta.

The defendant was declared proven to have committed violence against women and had a relationship with the complainant while still bound by a legal marriage.

This action is contrary to KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 8 of 2018 Article 90 (paragraph) 1 letter c concerning the Work Procedure of the KPU, provincial KPU, and Regency/Municipal KPU as has been changed to PKPU Number 3 of 2021.

The regulation requires to maintain attitudes and actions by abstaining from infidelity, drug abuse, gambling, cheating, liquor, acts of violence, acts of sexual violence, and other actions prohibited by laws and regulations.

The defendant and the complainant got to know each other in July 2017 and continued to have a romantic relationship even though the defendant was already bound by a legal marriage. At that time, the complainant worked as a cashier in an office.

The relationship is known to the wife of the defendant. Then, the defendant made an agreement not to repeat the affair and did not meet or contact the complainant again, but the agreement was violated by the teradu, as well as other agreements.

The affair resulted in the termination of the work relationship where the complainant was reported. The Chairperson of the Assembly said that the teradu as a public official should be able to maintain personal integrity and be an example for the community in maintaining social order.

"Instead of realizing social order, the attitudes and actions of the (competitor) actually deviate from moral and legal ethics by committing psychological violence against two women, causing a feud between the wife of the contestant and the complainant," he said.

The defendant was proven to have violated the provisions of Article 2, Article 7, Article 12 letters a and b, as well as Article 15 letter a of DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Conduct of Election Organizers.
