Government Prepares Monkeypox Detection Components In Indonesia, Including 2 Laboratories

JAKARTA - The government has prepared a component for early detection of monkeypox in Indonesia with the declaration of an international health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO).

"The government has prepared the components needed for early detection of the disease, such as the appointment of two laboratories to conduct sample tests," said the Coordinator of the Expert Team for the Handling of Oral and Nail Diseases (PMK) Wiku Adisasmito in an online press statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, 26 July.

The designated laboratories are the primate animal study center laboratory or PSSP LPPM IPB in Bogor, West Java, and the infectious disease research laboratory Prof Sri Oemiyati BKPK in Jakarta.

"In addition, the government is also intensifying socialization about monkeypox to increase public understanding of this disease," said Wiku.

Socialization in particular about how diseases can be transmitted, the risks that can increase transmission and how to avoid monkeypox.

The community is also always encouraged to implement a clean and healthy lifestyle as an effort to protect themselves.

"These efforts are expected to be able to increase public awareness of monkeypox disease to prevent the entry and spread of this disease to Indonesia," said Wiku.
