JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) has asked political parties to immediately submit plans for the time they have chosen to come to the KPU to register as candidates for political parties participating in the 2024 General Election.
"We hope that the parents (leaders or representatives of political parties) can immediately convey the planned date for submitting registration documents to the KPU," said KPU member Idham Holik as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 25.
Idham said that currently the registration stage is only a matter of days, the KPU will hold stages from August 1-14, 2022.
"As in PKPU No. 4 of 2020, we have socialized the stages of the registration period for political parties in advance regarding the 14-day period, namely August 1-14 and already have legal force," he said.
According to him, at least the leaders of political parties can convey their plans to come and submit registration documents one day before the arrival of political party registrations.
"We ask that we can submit a registration notification letter with the aim that we can arrange and be able to serve the leadership of political parties when registering political parties," he said.
With the notification, he said, there will be no concurrent schedules or problems with piling up the schedule for receiving political party registrations.
"Because if that happens, we are worried that we will not be served properly when registering with us, including that there may be prejudices as to why 'we are being left behind, why is that first,' which is what we don't want," he said.
The KPU, he said, has always been committed to holding elections with fair principles. This principle is to be realized in the implementation of elections, including at the registration stage of political parties.
