JAKARTA - Solok Mayor Zul Elgian Umar said his region needed to improve the quality of education. The reason is, Solok City is an educational destination for the surrounding area.

For this reason, the Solok City Government is collaborating with the official Google for Education partner, PT Duta Google Indonesia. Later, Solok will use the Google platform and transform digitally in the world of education.

"It is hoped that the Google Platform for Education can be used for all schools in the future," Zul said, as reported by Antara, Sunday, July 24.

The Mayor of Solok also thanked Google for their help in realizing the local government's commitment. This collaboration, called Zul, is a step for the Solok City Government to create a Smart City.

"The city of Solok is indeed in the process of becoming a smart city and really needs collaboration with many parties," said Zul.

Google Platform For Education applies a new learning model through Problem Based Learning which introduces students to problems first to find solutions.

Flipped Classroom emphasizes student creativity and Blended Learning which is a combination of learning that is dominated by online. Flipped Classroom uses hardware and face-to-face classroom learning which is used as a forum for building work teams for students. Teaching and learning activities in Solok City will use the Google Education platform in the future. "For the initial stage, teachers will be trained to be able to use chrome books. Eventually, we hope that in Solok City there will be an international standard Google reference school," he said.
