JAKARTA - The Southeast Maluku (Malra) Regency Government has disbursed a budget for religious activities totaling IDR 102.6 billion from the 2019 to 2022 Malra Regional Budget.

"This budget will not interfere with the construction of other physical facilities in Malra," said Southeast Maluku (Malra) Regent M Thaher Hanubun, Sunday, July 24, quoted from Antara.

One example of the local government's concern for religion is the construction of the Al Anshor Ohoi (Village) Dunwahan Mosque, Kei Kecil District, which was recently inaugurated with the Governor of Maluku, Murad Ismail, Saturday (23/7).

The construction of the Al Anshor Ohoi Dunwahan Mosque began with the laying of the first stone by the Regent of Malra M Thaher Hanubun on March 21, 2021.

The construction went smoothly because of the support from the Malra Regency Government and the cooperation of the neighboring Ohoi-Ohoi communities, so that the construction of the mosque building was only carried out for six months and 14 days.

According to him, the total development financing until now has been inaugurated with a budget of Rp. 1.27 billion, of which most of it comes from the Regency Government with a value of Rp. 1.2 billion.

During the inauguration, Regent M Thaher Hanubun emphasized that other places of worship in Ohoi-Ohoi which had been budgeted for construction by the Malra Regency Government could be completed, more specifically the construction of houses of worship whose budget was sufficient and was fulfilled by the Regency Government.

"This is an example, to dislodge the committees for the construction of other places of worship in Ohoi-Ohoi which have been allocated by the regional government to complete the construction immediately," said Thaher.

Thaher said that he had gone around to inspect, and the result was that many houses of worship had not been completed, even though the disbursed budget had been able to provide for the construction of both mosques and churches.

"I take an example, such as the construction of the Ohodertawun Church, a budget of IDR 1.2 billion has been disbursed equal to this mosque, but the construction has not yet been completed," said Thaher.

Especially for worship facilities, both churches and mosques in Malra, Thaher said that most of the budget has been disbursed.

"Starting from Rp. 2.5 billion, Rp. 1.5 billion, Rp. 1.2 billion, Rp. 1 billion, Rp. 500 million to the smallest Rp. 300 million," he said.

Thaher acknowledged that there were obstacles in the construction of worship facilities, both mosques and churches, and that was from the construction committee itself.

"I don't want to blame anyone, but I assure you that if you work with your heart, everything will be finished on time," said Thaher.
