JAKARTA - The delegation of senior members of the United States (US) Congress met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Saturday, July 23.

There, they pledged to ensure continued support in the war against Russia.

The delegation, which includes the chairman of the US House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith, is the latest in a series of visits by top US officials to Ukraine.

"The United States, along with allies and partners around the world, is supporting Ukraine by providing economic, military and humanitarian assistance," the delegation said in a statement written by Reuters.

"We will continue to look for ways to support President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people as effectively as possible despite their continued boldness," the delegation added.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Wednesday said Washington would send four more high mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS) to Ukraine, bringing the total they have provided so far to 16.

The statement from the delegation on Saturday did not elaborate on the arms transfer. Separately, Smith told US-backed Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that Washington and its allies were ready to hand over more rocket launch systems.
