JAKARTA - The National Police decided to carry out a re-autopsy or exhumation to seek justice for the death of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J on Wednesday (27/7) in Jambi.

"It was decided to carry out the exhumation in Jambi tomorrow Wednesday," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo after the pre-reconstruction of Brigadier J's case at the Duren Tiga Police Complex, South Jakarta, as quoted by Antara, Saturday.

The two-star general explained that the exhumation must be carried out quickly considering the condition of the body can affect the results of the re-autopsy to be obtained. For this reason, the National Police Investigative and Forensic Medicine Team will fly to Jambi Province on Tuesday (26/7).

"According to the order of the National Police Chief, the exhumation must be carried out as soon as possible," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigadier General Pol. Andi Rian Djajadi explained that the timing of the exhumation had been communicated with the family and family attorney of Brigadier J who was in Jambi in a virtual meeting on Friday (22/7).

The meeting, he said, was also attended by investigators and the Indonesian Forensic Medicine Association.

"The results of the meeting had several things submitted by forensic experts, then it was agreed that an exhumation be carried out on Wednesday in Jambi," said Andi.

The National Police is following up on Brigadier J's family request to carry out a re-autopsy or exhumation to seek justice regarding Brigadier J's death. The family makes a police report regarding the alleged premeditated murder to the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit or Article 340 in conjunction with Article 338 in conjunction with Article 351 paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 of the Criminal Code.

The report has now been handled by the Directorate of General Crimes (Ditipidum) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department and has been upgraded to the investigation stage. A number of witnesses have been examined in the case, including the family of Brigadier J.
