SURABAYA - The number of corruption cases at Bank Jatim handled by the East Java District Attorney's Office has been highlighted by the East Java DPRD. Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD, Anwar Sadad, urged Bank Jatim to immediately improve itself in order to gain (public trust) from the public.

"I hope this will be a lesson for Bank Jatim to improve its performance. I am afraid that many corruption cases will affect public confidence in Bank Jatim," Sadad said, confirmed on Friday, July 22.

Sadad said, Bank Jatim is one of the mainstay BUMDs in East Java. For this reason, the public has high hopes for this BUMD because it is proven from year to year that it contributes to local revenue (PAD).

"Don't hide behind the Banking Law. Because essentially, the owners of Bank Jatim shares are the people of East Java. They have an obligation to always coordinate with Commission C as a representation of the people of East Java in charge of banking," he said.

For information, corruption cases involving Bank Jatim this year are quite dominating the cases being handled by the High Prosecutor's Office and State Prosecutors throughout East Java. At least, there are 11 cases of alleged corruption in Bank Jatim which are now being handled by the East Java Prosecutor's Office.

"From January to July 20, 2022, the eleven were related to corruption in regional development banks in East Java," said the Assistant for Special Crimes at the East Java Prosecutor's Office, Riono Budisantoso.
