Komnas Perempuan Asks To Stop Speculation On The Death Of Brigadier J, Says Ferdy Sambo's Wife Keeps Crying

JAKARTA - Komnas Perempuan has asked all parties to stop various speculations about the incident at the official house of the former Head of the National Police's Propam Division, Inspector General Pol. Ferdy Sambo who killed Brigadier J.

The head of Komnas Perempuan Andy Yentriyani asked all parties to be patient waiting for the results of the investigation of the special team (timsus) formed by the National Police Chief Gen. Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"All speculation, especially related to motives. We think it will corner Ibu P (Ferdy Sambo's wife) more, so that it prevents her from recovering," said Andy Yentriyani in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, July 21, quoted from Antara.

The impact of this speculation will make it difficult for the special team formed by the National Police Chief to obtain information from P who is the key witness to the incident. Komnas Perempuan is currently investigating cases related to reporting P as a victim of sexual violence.

"We are currently investigating the case, Komnas Perempuan is seeking anyone who reports sexual violence, the first thing we have to make sure is that all parties take steps to protect and recover," he said.

Apart from the shooting case between members at the official residence, Andy said Komnas Perempuan viewed P's condition as the main focus.

"Even if she is a witness to the incident, she still needs to recover before she can tell her story; what we focus on is Ms P has room for recovery. Ms P is still in a state of shock. Currently Ms P is only crying, that's why we need space more to be able to accompany the case," he explained.

He also asked the public to be patient waiting for the results of the investigation, both from the special team of the National Police and the National Human Rights Commission. All such speculation should be stopped, he added.

"The main issue is the shooting. Let's give Komnas HAM, the Timsus, the police time to provide information on what really happened. So, let's stop the speculations about the motive, we'll give Ms. P space to recover," he said.

Andy also ensures that Komnas Perempuan continues to monitor the development of P's condition and coordinates with the special team of the National Police and Komnas HAM if additional information is found.

As reported, Brigadier J died after being involved in a shootout with Bharada E at Ferdy Sambo's residence. The Indonesian National Police regrets that Brigadier J attempted to sexually harass P.

The Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Pol. Ahmad Ramadhan initially said that Brigadier J entered P's private room and was suspected of harassing and pointing a gun at P.

P then shouted for help and panicked Brigadier J, who then left the room before finally shooting Bharada E.

The National Police Chief formed a special team led by the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol. Gatot Edi Pramono, by involving Kompolnas and Komnas HAM.
