JAKARTA - The Bandung City Government has created a Safe Safe School Route (RASS) to familiarize students with walking to school.

Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana said walking to school is a good habit that needs to be implemented from an early age. The launch of RASS started at SMPN 55 Bandung, Cigondewah Kaler, Bandung City, West Java.

"I hope this is sustainable, and hopefully RASS in various schools will also run and be realized," Yana said in Bandung, West Java, Wednesday, July 20, quoted from Antara.

The RASS installation is a collaboration between the Bandung City Education Office (Disdik), Bandung City Transportation Service (Dishub), and Bandung City Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), along with other parties including the community around the school.

To support the new facility, Yana also advised vehicle users on the road to respect RASS. Because, according to him, this facility is an effort to realize safe travel to school.

Meanwhile, Head of Bandung City DSDABM Didi Ruswandi said that RASS is a continuation of the bike to school movement or the cycling movement to school.

He assessed that the movement of walking to school can shape the character of children or students to be able to have a responsible attitude.

So he hopes that the procurement of RASS is not just an addition to one of the infrastructures in the city of Bandung, but also character building for children from an early age.

"If it's delivered, you name it, it's enough to be a passenger, the child has arrived at school. But if they are accustomed to walking, children are responsible for being able to come on time,” said Didi.
