Basarnas Deploys 13 Fleet To Search For Missing KM Cahaya Arafah Passenger In South Halmahera

TERNATE - The Ternate Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku (Malut) together with a joint SAR team deployed 13 fleets to search for passengers on the KM Cahaya Arafah route on the Ternate-Gana, South Halmahera Regency who were declared missing.

Head of Basarnas Ternate Fathur Rahman said to maximize the search for victims of the sinking of KM Cahaya Arafah in Tokaka waters, South Halmahera Regency deployed 13 fleets with personnel and a team of divers.

According to him, as many as 13 fleets that have been alerted, namely KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata are focused on searching, plus the fleet of KP Gamalama, KAL Tidore, KRI Albakora, KN. Sea Elephant, Sea Snake KN, KNP. 358, Sea Rider Pandudewanata, Rubber Boat SAR Alert Unit for Halsel/Bacan, community longboats, Palsar Evacuation, Medical Palsar and Kom.

He stated, on the third day of the sinking of the ship, the Joint SAR Team resumed searching for the victims of passengers around the sinking of the KM Cahaya Arafah ship.

The search began at 07.30 WIT, the joint SAR team is planned to conduct a search for 13 victims who have not been found by dividing the search into six search and rescue units (SRU) and a search area of 17.4 NM, from LKP.

In addition, for SRU 3 KAL Tidore with an area of 17.3 NM, from LKP.

Meanwhile, SRU 5 speedboats conducted a sweep on the coast of Tokaka Waters along 8 NM from north to south and SRU elements from Basarnas, Lanal Ternate and Polairud carried out dives at the LKP Point with a depth of 30-40 meters using rubber boats and diving equipment to search 12 victims lost in these waters.
