JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling Mouth and Nail Diseases (PMK) in livestock reported that based on data as of July 18, 2022, all provinces on the island of Java and some provinces on the island of Sumatra are categorized in the red zone.

The Coordinator of the Expert Team for the Task Force for Handling Mouth and Nail Diseases (PMK) Wiku Adisasmito also said that there were 22 provinces and 263 regencies and cities that were infected, judging by the mapping.

"All provinces on Java Island, some provinces on Sumatra Island are categorized in the red zone, with FMD cases recorded and found in districts or cities," Wiku said at a press conference quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 19.

Wiku said that the yellow zones in several districts and cities, such as Lampung, West Kalimantan and South Sulawesi, indicated that there were less than 50 percent of districts or cities in a province that were infected with FMD.

"Then there is a green zone, which means that there have been no reports of PMK cases in these areas, such as in the provinces of Papua, East Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku," he said.

Wiku said the zoning determination was the result of intensive data processing of cases reported by the local government, which was obtained from a combination of laboratory test results and physical examinations that showed clinical symptoms of FMD.

The government continues to try to suppress cases by continuing to carry out biosecurity, testing, vaccination, treatment and conditional withholding, and expects the public to be aware and concerned about the FMD outbreak, and jointly tackle the addition of cases by implementing biosecurity.
