Investigating The Deadly Accident Of Pertamina's Tanker Truck In Bekasi, The Police Will Check The Brake Function Which Is Suspected To Be Malfunctioning

JAKARTA - The deadly accident of a Pertamina tanker truck that killed 10 people is thought to have been caused by a failed brake. The police will confirm the allegation by checking the braking function of the tanker truck.

"We are coordinating with the relevant agencies to check the function of the vehicle," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman to reporters, Tuesday, July 19.

Then, an inspection of the driver and assistant will also be carried out. Thus, authentic evidence will be obtained behind the cause of the deadly accident.

"So from there we will find this vehicle is feasible, especially the brake problem. Because it is suspected that the brakes are not working," he said.

Especially for the inspection of drivers and assistants, Latif said that he had not been able to determine the time. Because they are still traumatized by the bloody incident.

"As for the driver and the assistant, the excavation has not yet been investigated. Because we are also psychological, we have to take care of it," said Latif.

For information, the fatal accident occurred in the Alternative Transyogi area of Cibubur, Bekasi, Monday, July 18. Pertamina's tanker truck hit dozens of vehicles causing 10 people to die.

So far, the exact cause is not known. However, it is suspected that the Pertamina tanker truck experienced a failed brake.
