Anies' Electability Is Considered By Observers To Be Declining After The Governorship: No Stage, Needs Budget To Build Image

JAKARTA - Political observer Ujang Komarudin said Anies Baswedan's electability for the 2024 presidential election could decline after his term as Governor of DKI Jakarta ends in October this year.

Anies' electability rate could drop after leaving the governorship because there is no news about him, and it will make it difficult for him to get on stage if he intends to run for president, said Ujang as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 18.

"If you don't have a position, don't have a position or don't become governor anymore, this is a challenge because you don't have a stage, don't have news, don't have a budget to build that image. Unless he has a stage elsewhere," he said.

According to Ujang, if Anies is able to maintain his electability, he can still compete to become a presidential candidate.

"But if there is no position later, it could be that the electability will be low or down. Well, if that happens, yes, it will be difficult to compete in the presidential election," said Ujang.

As a non-political party person, Anies must have high electability in order to attract political parties to become presidential candidates.

Responding to the results of the Indopol survey which showed that the pair Anies Baswedan and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) received the highest support from the public, according to Ujang, the two could indeed attract young voters if the supporting parties could work together.

"If the formula is that NasDem supports Anies, the Democrats support AHY when they just met, plus the strength of the PKS," he said.
