Gasak 130 Cellphones In Gorontalo, Three Suspects Arrested In Makassar

MAKASSAR - When disembarking from the KM Napulu ship which docked at Makassar Port, South Sulawesi, three suspected perpetrators of cell phone theft were arrested, the Makassar Police Jatanras Unit Team. It is suspected that a few days ago they broke into a shop in Gorontalo Province.

"We managed to secure three perpetrators suspected of being the perpetrators of theft with weights from the Polres area, Polda Gorontalo when they arrived at the port," said Head of the Jatanras Unit of Makassar Polrestabes Iptu Hamka to reporters, Saturday, July 16.

The three alleged perpetrators each had the initials S (42), AS (34), and Y (45). All three are criminal gangs that specialize in breaking into mobile phone shops and come from Gorontalo Province. The three are also fugitives from the Pohuwato Police Station, Gorontalo.

When one person was arrested, the officers immediately carried out the development and found evidence of hundreds of sealed cell phones stored in three boxes on the ship he was on from Gorontalo. The plan is that hundreds of mobile phones will be sold in stores in the Makassar City area.

The actions of the perpetrators were carried out during Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijriah by opening the door of the cellphone shop when the conditions were quiet. This was revealed when the shop owner reported the incident to the Pohowatu Police.

Based on coordination with the Pohuwato Sector Police, it was discovered that the suspect was headed to Makassar, so the Makassar Polrestabes Jatanras Unit team immediately scouted and arrested the three at the local port.

"So, they broke into a cellphone shop and then took all the cellphones in the storefront. There are approximately 130 units. From the statements of the perpetrators, who conveyed and confirmed that they carried out the action together," said Hamka as quoted by Antara.

To account for their actions, the three alleged perpetrators and their evidence were temporarily secured and then handed over to the Pohuwato Police Investigation Team for further processing. The perpetrators are subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code related to theft accompanied by weights with a maximum imprisonment of five years.
