Floods Hit Bogor, Water Delivered Threats Residents Of Jakarta And Tangerang

JAKARTA - A number of sub-districts in Bogor Regency have been flooded since Friday, July 15. Floods inundated Sukaraja District, Citeureup District, Bojong Gede District, Jonggol District, Kemang District and Cibinong District.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency reported that as many as 3,891 people from 941 families were affected by the flood. In addition, there are 941 housing units and three places of worship that were affected by the flood with a water level of 50-100 centimeters.

"The flood also forced approximately 209 people to evacuate temporarily when their homes were submerged in water. But now they have returned to their homes after the flood receded," said Plt. Head of BNPB Disaster Data and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari in his statement, Saturday, July 16.

Considering that Bogor Regency has experienced flooding, Abdul Muhari said that the water will flow along the Ciliwung watershed (DAS) in Jakarta and the Banten area, especially Tangerang.

"Other areas such as Jakarta, particularly along the Ciliwung watershed and the Banten region, particularly Lebak and Tangerang, are asked to improve preparedness and be able to take mitigation efforts from potential floods," said Abdul Muhari.

This morning, a number of areas in Jakarta and Tangerang have been flooded. Floods in Jakarta submerged 92 RTs spread across South Jakarta, East Jakarta and West Jakarta with water levels above 40 centimeters to 20 meters.

Meanwhile, flooding in Tangerang City was recorded at 19 points with water levels ranging from 30 centimeters to 1.5 meters.
