Sidoarjo Police, East Java Arrest Man Who Committed Murder And Robbery In Teras Musala, Suspect's Motive Is Need Money For Wife's Delivery

JAKARTA - Police officers from Sidoarjo City, East Java, managed to arrest a man with the initials YW, a suspect in the murder on a prayer room terrace in Ngares Rejo Village, Sidoarjo.

The Chief of the Sidoarjo City Police, Commissioner of Police Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, said that the perpetrators were desperate to kill the victim due to economic factors.

"The suspect admitted that he needed money for his wife's birth," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, July 16.

He said at dawn Thursday, July 14, the suspect walked from Bungurasih to the Sukodono area, Sidoarjo.

"The goal is to find people who are careless and intend to take valuables from victims they meet," he said.

Arriving at the Muhajirin Musala, Ngares Rejo, Sukodono, YW saw a man, namely WAS, sitting on the terrace of the prayer room and the victim's automatic motorbike was parked near the victim.

"Coming to the WAS victim, YW immediately stabbed the victim four times in the chest using a knife," he said.

Knowing the victim was helpless and covered in blood, YW took valuables, including a motorcycle, a cell phone, as well as the victim's wallet containing his identity, motorcycle registration certificate, and an ATM card.

After getting the victim's valuables, the police said, the perpetrator then I ran away.

Armed with the testimony of witnesses around the scene and the cooperation of the local police, the police suspect that the perpetrator brought an automatic motorbike to the Trenggalek area.

"From the information that came to us, the Sidoarjo Police Resmob Team together with the Trenggalek Police immediately pursued the perpetrators. We arrested the perpetrators in Nglebeng Village, Panggul, Trenggalek," he said.

During the arrest, the perpetrator tried to escape and threatened the safety of the officers by using a sharp weapon, which forced the police to take firm action.

"For his actions, the perpetrator is subject to the threat of Article 339 of the Criminal Code with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years or a life sentence at most. Plus Article 365 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code Theft with violence resulting in death, namely a maximum imprisonment of 15 years," he said.
