Flights At Soekarno-Hatta Airport Undisturbed By Smoke From The Paralon Pipe Factory Fire

TANGERANG - The manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, stated that the smoke from the paralon pipe factory fire around the airport did not interfere with flight activities or operations.

"Operationally there are no problems, flights are still safe because visibility (distance) is not disturbed at all," said Candra Ananda, Senior Manager of Branch Communication & Legal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 15.

He said the current visibility conditions were still within safe limits for airplane flights.

In addition, the impact of the factory fire around the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area also did not affect the runway and airport terminal.

"Both runways are still in use. So far, they are still safe, no impact on flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," he said.

It was previously known that the paralon pipe manufacturing factory owned by PT Papindo Abadi Pratama on Jalan Raya France, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, caught fire on Friday at around 13.30 WIB.

The Tangerang Regency BPBD Post (Danpos) Commander Oni Syahroni in Tangerang said that the fire was thought to have occurred due to an electrical short circuit that directly spread to piles of cardboard around the factory.

"The cause of the fire, according to a source from the factory, was due to an electric short circuit beneath which there were flammable boxes," he said.

The Tangerang Regency BPBD team has deployed five units of fire engines and 25 personnel which will be added if needed.

"It seems that if a paralon pipe like this takes a long time, usually plastic is long enough, but we are still trying to get rid of these hotspots," he said.

As a result of the fire thick smoke billows high and is estimated to reach the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport area.

Therefore, his party plans to use special materials if the fire persists.
