Bareskrim Unloads Syndikar Of Subsidized Elpiji Gas That Loses Rp6.8 Billion State, 14 Suspects

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has dismantled a syndicate of selling three kilograms of subsidized LPG gas in the Pulo Gebang area, East Jakarta. This syndicate is said to have caused state losses of Rp 6.87 billion.

"Searching the warehouse where the government subsidized kilograms of liquefied petroleum gas is injected into 12 and 50 kilograms of cylinders," said Director of Specific Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto, told reporters on Friday, July 15.

In the disclosure of this case, 14 people were named as suspects ranging from workers or those who mixed gas to the boss who became the main suspect.

They have the initials SN, SB, SP, ABE, HP, RS; PEM, AP, and TG. Then, there are also suspects S, MEG alias MR, AA, FAY alias KM, and KP.

According to him, the suspects transferred three kilograms of subsidized gas to 12 and 50 kilograms gas cylinders. The goal, so that they get a big profit.

This is because the price for subsidized three kilograms of gas is only Rp. 18,500. Meanwhile, if it has been dioplos to 12 kilograms, the price reaches Rp. 135,000.

Then, from the examination, this group had been in action since March 2022. However, they had temporarily stopped their actions to avoid being monitored by the police.

"Activities are always moving to avoid the police," he said.

In this case, the perpetrators also caused considerable state losses. The amount reached Rp6.87 billion.

"So the total potential loss to the state is Rp. 6,878,964,960," said Pipit.

Thus, the suspects are suspected of being under Article 55 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas as amended by Article 40 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code. They face a maximum imprisonment of 6 years and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion
