SULTENG - The North Morowali Regency Government will provide nutritious food for six consecutive months to the beneficiaries of the feeding center program for free. The beneficiaries are toddlers at risk of stunting in North Morowali.

North Morowali Regent Delis J. Hehi explained that this program is to prevent family members from experiencing stunting. This issue is currently the focus of many regions in Indonesia, including in North Morowali, Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng).

"The people who enter the feeding center are tasked with feeding regularly and continuously for six months in a row to families who are the targets of the stunting prevention and treatment program," he said when contacted, Friday, July 15.

In providing nutritious food, the feeding center team will also provide counseling about a good diet in accordance with local potential and the ability of each family to produce a healthy and superior generation.

He explained that the operation of the center for providing nutritious food was urgent because the prevalence of stunting in North Morowali Regency was still relatively high.

If there are no continuous handling and prevention efforts, he said, the stunting prevalence rate in the area will continue to increase.

He said that currently 680 children were stunted in North Morowali. They are spread over 10 sub-districts with three sub-districts with a high prevalence of stunting, namely North Bungku 118 people, Soyo Jaya 96 people, and East Petasia 86 people.

Based on the identification results, there are 17 villages whose residents are at risk of stunting and will become priority targets for the implementation of stunting prevention and treatment through the nutritious food center.
