Overview Bridge II Becomes A New Icon In The Anambas Islands

TANJUNGPINANG - Governor of the Riau Islands (Kepri) Ansar Ahmad inaugurated the Bridge of Glance II which became a new icon in Tarempa, Anambas Islands Regency.

"This bridge was built thanks to the collaboration between the Riau Islands Provincial Government and the Anambas Regency Government. This bridge has been used by the Tarempa community since January 2022," Governor Ansar said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 14.

The Overview Bridge II is a replacement bridge for the Overview Bridge I, which currently does not allow it to be used as the main transportation route on the outer islands.

Overview Bridge I collapsed due to the effects of tropical storm Pabuk that hit Thailand and its surroundings in early 2019.

Ansar said that currently the Overview Bridge II is the lifeblood of transportation and the community's economy, as well as fast access that connects the center of the capital city to the center of government in Tarempa.

"The Selayang Pandang II Bridge is far more capable as an access road in Tarempa, now the bridge is wider so four-wheeled vehicles can easily pass through this bridge," said Ansar.

Ansar explained that the Second Overview Bridge was built through cooperation and support for sharing funds from the Riau Islands Provincial Government and Anambas Regency Government.

The construction of this bridge took three years, with the amount of funds used amounting to Rp. 77 billion. The 1,150 meter long bridge is planned to be paved in 2023.

"Bridge at a glance, if we look at it from the Great Mosque, is very beautiful and has become the new icon of Tarempa, you could say this is a gift and pride for the people of Tarempa," said Ansar.

There is also the Selayang Pandang I bridge, continued Ansar, which is currently a culinary center and is planned to be limited to bicycles and pedestrians.
