RIAU - The KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) has demanded the Governor of Riau for the 2014-2019 period, Annas Maamun, who was involved in a bribery case, with a sentence of two years in prison and a fine of Rp. 150 million in a trial at the Pekanbaru Corruption Court today.

The man who is familiarly called Atuk Annas attended the online trial of the Pekanbaru Class I Rutan.

The Public Prosecutor assessed that the defendant Annas Maamun was found guilty of giving bribes to a number of members of the Riau DPRD for the 2009-2014 period to accelerate the ratification of the 2014 Revised RAPBD and 2015 RAPBD.

As in the first indictment, namely violating Article 5 Letter A, Law Number 31 of 1999, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption, junto Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

"The defendant Annas Maamun was sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of Rp. 150 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison," said KPK Public Prosecutor Arif Rahman as quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 14.

The things that incriminate the defendant are not supporting the government's program in the corruption eradication program.

Meanwhile, the mitigating thing is that the defendant Annas Maamun is honest about his actions, is old, and the defendant is polite and respects the trial.

Arif also explained his party's rejection of the defendant's efforts to become a justice collaborator because the Public Prosecutor assessed that Annas' statement did not give rise to new suspects in the case.

"The defendant is indeed fluent in providing information at trial, but does not reveal new perpetrators. We explore ourselves through evidence at trial," explained Arif.

After reading the charges, the chairman of the panel of judges, DR Dahlan, asked whether the defendant would submit a plea or a memorandum of defense

"We will submit a plea for Your Majesty," said Annas' legal adviser.

In this corruption case, Annas Maamun as Governor of Riau was charged with giving Rp1.01 billion of money to a number of members of the Riau DPRD for the 2009-2014 period to launch the ratification of the 2014 Revised RAPBD and 2015 RAPBD.

Apart from that, Annas is also known to have promised an extension of the loan to use official vehicles which at the end of his term can be owned by members of the Riau DPRD by way of a prioritized auction.
