JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named two witnesses in the alleged bribery and gratuity case that ensnared the former Tanah Bumbu Regent, Mardani Maming, for missing his summons. One of the absentees was Mardani Maming's wife, Erwinda.

Erwinda should have been questioned on Wednesday, July 13, at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. In addition, investigators will also examine a housewife, Nur Fitriani Yoes Rachman.

"From the information we have obtained, the two witnesses did not appear without confirmation from the investigative team," said Acting Spokesperson for the PK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Thursday, July 14.

Ali reminded the witnesses in the alleged bribery and gratification case at the Tanah Bumbu Regency Government, Kalimantan to cooperate. The pretrial which is currently underway at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) cannot be a reason for them to be absent.

"We reiterate, the pretrial application does not hinder the process of investigating this case. We continue to collect evidence," he said.

"For this reason, we remind the witnesses to be cooperative in attending to the second summons which we will immediately send," continued Ali.

Previously, there were three witnesses who also failed to attend the examination which was held on Tuesday, July 12. They are the former Director of PT Permata Abadi Raya (PAR), Wawan Surya; Commissioner of PT Angsana Terminal Utama (PT ATU), Muhmmad Bahruddin; and a private, Andy Cahyadi.

Mardani was named a suspect after being prevented from going abroad by the Directorate General of Immigration at the request of the KPK. Before being named a suspect, the General Treasurer of the Nahdlaltul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) was also investigated.

However, after being questioned, he admitted that he was asked for information regarding his problem with the owner of PT Jhonlin Group Samsudin Andi Arsyad alias Haji Isam.

Even so, Maming's name was actually mentioned as receiving Rp89 billion in money in a trial for alleged bribery of a mining business permit (IUP) in Tanah Bumbu Regency which was held at the Tipikor Court, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).
