KPU Asked To Make Breakthroughs To Solve Election Problems

JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR reminded the Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the General Elections Commission (KPU) to fix population data in preparation for the 2024 General Election which will take place soon.

Member of Commission II of the DPR RI, Guspardi Gaus, appealed to all local governments (Pemda) and KPUD to pay attention to population data problems in order to minimize problems that occur in the General Election.

It is known, Commission II of the DPR together with the government and election organizers, in this case the KPU and Bawaslu, have approved the PKPU and agreed to use the population database from the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs which has been updated.

"Usually the problems that arise are not much different from the general election and previous elections which started from recording e-KTP. There are a number of population data problems, such as the issuance of electronic identity cards (KTP) amid the limited availability of electronic ID cards," Guspardi told reporters. , Thursday, July 14th.

The PAN politician hopes that if there is a shortage of e-KTP forms, the provincial government will immediately report it to the central government. This is because the Ministry of Home Affairs through the director general of Dukcapil has guaranteed the availability of electronic Identity Card (e-KTP) forms.

The legislator from West Sumatra also asked the KPUD to anticipate and minimize various problems that will arise related to the preparation for the 2024 General Election. Including problems that arise regarding the voter list such as data on residents who have died, changed addresses, beginner voters, marital status, TNI/Polri who have died. retired, and so on.

"It must be cleared, don't let problems like this happen again. Considering that the election stage has started on June 14, 2022," Guspardi urged.

According to him, there must be a more proactive breakthrough between election organizers and local governments by consolidating and synergizing in preparation for the 2024 General Election. (KPU).
