Task Force Asks Residents For Booster Vaccines To Access Public Facilities

JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Expert Team and Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito asked the public to immediately carry out a third or booster dose of vaccination to access public facilities.

"Immediately go to the nearest vaccination center for a booster," Wiku said at a press conference on the Development of COVID-19 Handling in Indonesia, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 13.

Da said that the mandatory booster vaccine policy to be able to access public facilities would be enforced simultaneously with the enactment of SE Task Force No. 21 of 2022 and SE Task Force No. 22 of 2022 on July 17, 2022.

Wiku said that the public can find information on the location of the nearest vaccination center by using internet technology, such as Google Maps.

"The public can also visit government-owned health facilities such as hospitals and health centers as well as several private hospitals and public facilities," he said.

Wiku said that in principle, vaccines have three major benefits, namely preventing infection, preventing worsening of symptoms if infected, and reducing the number of viruses in the body so that they are not easily transmitted.

Wiku again reminded the public to remain disciplined in health protocols and be vigilant without panicking.

"Hopefully this experience for more than 2.5 years can familiarize us with various conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

Previously, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Mohammad Syahril said that booster doses of vaccination would be a requirement for the community to be active in public spaces to protect the public from COVID-19.

"This is not an obligation or coercion on the community, but rather to protect, not only protect themselves but also protect people in public areas," said Syahril.

He said that the public areas in question were in public vehicles, large-scale gatherings including in shopping centers or malls, hotels and so on.

Vaccination is part of the need for the community to avoid serious illness caused by COVID-19 and protect the community as a whole.
